A teenager has accused his 46-year-old homosexual godfather of sexually assaulting him as he slept in the man?s bed.

The 19-year-old said in Magistrates? Court yesterday that he was violated on February 19 as he lay, paralysed with fear, in his godfather?s bed in the small hours.

Explaining the alleged offence in graphic detail, the boy claimed that his ?Godpa? reached across and stroked his chest, untied his sweatpants, masturbated him and then performed oral sex for around ten minutes.

The ordeal lasted for around 45 minutes, he said, and when it ended he turned on his side and was unable to sleep.

But defence counsel Elizabeth Christopher challenged the 19-year-old?s version of events, questioning why he never asked the man to stop and suggesting that any sexual contact on the night had been entirely consensual ? an accusation vehemently denied by the accuser.

When questioned by Crown counsel Shakira Dill, the teenager related how he often stayed at the accused?s house along with his twin brother, but usually slept on a mattress on the floor of his godfather?s bedroom.

On the night in question the mattress was propped up against the wall, he said, and he opted to slip into bed next to his godfather instead.

The morning after the alleged assault took place, the teenager claimed he was asked by his godfather whether he was angry about what took place the night before and in response played dumb.

On February 21, however, he summoned up the courage to confront him and went to his place of work.

?I asked him why he had done what he?d done and he replied ?I don?t know?,? he said with tears running down his face.

?I told him he had lost my trust and my faith in him and I then went to the Police to report what had happened.?

But under cross-examination, the teenager admitted to knowing that he was getting into bed with a gay man while further conceding that he also resided at a house in Devonshire with another homosexual.

The accuser was questioned by Ms Christopher over and over about why he did not react ?in the slightest? during the alleged assault and why he continued to lay ?within six inches? of the man for more than two hours afterwards.

?You?ve got to appreciate, I was terrified,? he retorted.

?He is twice as big as me and I was worried if I asked him to stop that he would keep going or beat me up.?

Meanwhile, the defendant?s Police statement was read to the court in which he admitted to ?feeling horny? and ?in need of sexual pleasure? on the night.

He also admitted to fondling the teenager?s penis and performing oral sex ? although he had assumed because of the lack of protest that his actions were not causing offence.

?When I realised what I?d done I felt terrible,? he wrote in his statement.

?I wish I could turn back the hands of time and reverse my choice.?

Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo adjourned the trial until July 12, when the defence is expected to open its case.
