Police investigate death of senior

Police detectives have not ruled out foul play as they investigate the sudden death of an elderly man in his home yesterday.

Police arrived at the home in Pembroke at 8.30 a.m. after receiving reports of a medical emergency.

The victim, a 68-year-old Pembroke man, was found when a relative visited his home in order to wake him up for work.

The relative used a ladder to enter the house after there was no response to his knocking.

The man was found in an unresponsive state, sitting on the edge of his bed.

The victim was later pronounced dead on the scene by an on call physician.

Police said the cause of death was unknown and no further information could be released until the man?s next-of-kin had been formally notified.
