Residents furious over truck snarl

Smith?s residents have hit out over the latest truck blunder which took down a Belco pole early yesterday.

The snarl up trapped one resident in his driveway and has led others to fear children will be mown down by careless truckers.

Greg Wojciechowski said he heard a ripping and popping sound and found a truck with its truck bed still up had collided with the pole, spilling wires over his Lolly?s Well Road property.

It comes just weeks after Manor House Bridge was partly demolished by a truck in an area plagued with large trucks.

Mr. Wojciechowski said his neighbour was blocked in by the blunder which happened at about 7.40 a.m. and took until around 9 a.m. to fix.

?People need to slow down and be careful,? he said. A Belco spokeswoman said its wires had been moved to a new pole recently and the only lines affected were phone and cable wires yet to make the switch.
