Woman admits stealing from Dollar Depot

A 38-year-old Devonshire woman has admitted stealing items worth $15 from the Hamilton Dollar Depot.

Appearing in Magistrates’ Court yesterday, Monique Shannon pleaded guilty to the September 9 offence.

The court heard that staff observed Shannon on CCTV, placing items in her bag and then leaving the store without paying.

The items included hair products, cholesterol treatment, thermals and a sandwich container valued at a total of $15. Shannon was approached by staff outside the store, escorted back inside and the police were called.Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo ordered a social inquiry report, granted Shannon $1,000 bail and adjourned the matter to December 8 for sentencing.
