Stonington decision soon?

Government may announce who has won the management contract to run the Stonington Beach Hotel by the end of this month.

The troubled hotel, which is part of Bermuda College and has been used to teach Bermudians about the hospitality industry, has recently been transferred from the Ministry of Education to Tourism.

The Ministries have set up a committee to assess bids from the private sector to manage the hotel.

Bermuda Resort Hotels, which owns Harmony Club, Surf Side and the Wharf Executive Hotel, is rumoured to be one of two bidders being considered by the committee.

An Education Ministry spokeswoman said that no decision has yet been made, but that an announcement may be made by the end of the month.
