Butterfield shares gain ground

Shares up: Butterfield Bank climbed more than 1 per cent last week

A total of 84,925 shares worth $294,995 traded on the Bermuda Stock Exchange (BSX) last week.

During the four-day trading week, shortened for the Labour Day holiday, the Bank of Butterfield saw 62,625 shares move, leaving its price two cents (1.1 per cent) up.

The bank’s preference shares were down 22 cents after 26 shares sold, with the price at $1,137.28.

Financial services holding firm Somers Ltd stood unchanged at $13 after 500 shares traded.

Insurance company Argus was up 20 cents (5.3 per cent) at $4 after 5,000 shares changed hands.

Fellow insurance firm BF&M was down 13 cents (6.66 per cent) at $16.85 after 5,500 shares traded.

Utilities company Ascendant was down 40 cents (7.7 per cent) at $4.80 after 4,500 shares were exchanged.

Telecoms firm KeyTech was up 55 cents (22 per cent) at $3.05 after 5,500 shares moved.

Watlington Water was unchanged at $13 after 1,300 shares changed hands.

The Royal Gazette/BSX Index closed up 15.40 points (1.24 per cent) at 1,233.33.

The BSX Insurance Index ended the week up 2.93 points (0.19 per cent) at 1,558.93.
