A basketball camp for youngsters will run its annual camp for the fifth time this summer.

Indian Summer Basketball Club will hold the ?Skills and Drills? camp from Monday, July 3 to Friday, July 7 at the Mount St. Agnes Academy gym.

The camp, sponsored jointly by Bank of Bermuda and KPMG runs from 8.30 a.m. to 1 p.m. daily and is open to boys and girls aged ten to 14 years old.

Instruction will be by Dwight Freeman, head men?s basketball coach at Norfolk State University in Virginia and by two of Bermuda?s leading youth basketball coaches, Dane Commissiong and Tommy Johnson, of Indian Summer Basketball.

Mr. Commissiong said: ?Indian Summer Basketball Club is a youth basketball development programme that aims to improve the standard of youth basketball in Bermuda, while providing information on, and mentoring for, careers in finance to young teens.

?The club has been very successful in this regard as the quality of play in the local school basketball leagues has increased dramatically and several former members of the club?s first intake in 2000 are currently in university studying finance or graduated from high school this year and are planning careers in finance.?

The summer camp still has places available and the cost is $100 per player, which includes a uniform. Contact Mr. Commissiong on 299-6141 or 293-3048 for more information.
