A dead body was found “in an advanced state” by a member of the public at a Middle Town Lane, Hamilton address.

Neighbours only learnt of the discovery when Police, including the Forensic Support Unit, descended on a site near the east end of the residential street. Foul play is not suspected.

According to a Police spokesman, officers responded at about 11.15am and found the lifeless body of a 65-year-old Pembroke man.

Asked if the body had been decomposed, the spokesman said that it had been in advanced state when they got the call from a member of the public.

The spokesman said an investigation into the death has now commenced.
