from her former employer.

Thomas, of Cobb's Hill Road, Paget, admitted the offences in Supreme Court during the monthly arraignment session yesterday.

She admitted five charges of forging, four charges of uttering, four charges of obtaining money using false pretences and one charge of stealing from her employer, Manufacturer's Life Insurance Company.

Between January 3, 1990 and September 30, 1992, Thomas stole a total of $105,078.07 from the company.

On February 14, 1991 she pleaded guilty to forging a Bank of Bermuda cheque valued at $575. She signed the cheque using Vera Robinson's name, uttered it and pretended that it was genuine.

That same day she forged another cheque for $1033.75 which she endorsed using a false name. She also uttered it and pretended that the cheque was genuine.

On November 22, 1991 Thomas forged, uttered and pretended a third Bank of Bermuda cheque for $3,608 was genuine.

She also forged, uttered and pretended a fourth cheque worth $646.84 was genuine on October 31, 1991.

On September 29, Thomas admitted that she stole $6,000 when she changed the payee's name on the cheque.

All the cheques were drawn on Manufacturer's Life Insurance Company's account at the Bank of Bermuda.

Thomas' lawyer Mrs. Keren Lomas asked for a psychiatric report for her client who will be sentenced on November 14. Chief Justice the Hon. Mr. Justice Ward remanded Thomas in custody until that time.

In other arraignments yesterday, William Gayle Samuel Gumbs, 47, pleaded not guilty to attempted murder on July 19, 1995 but he admitted that he unlawfully wounded Robert Thomas with intent to do grievous bodily harm on the same date.

He also admitted unlawfully wounding Thomas.

Gumbs' lawyer Ms Sonia Grant asked that the matter be set to the next arraignment date on November 1. Gumbs was remanded in custody.

Daniel Lawrence Johnson pleaded not guilty to robbery of a woman of $545 on February 3, 1995. He allegedly was armed with a knife.

He will appear again on November 1, 1995 for mention. He was represented by lawyer Mr. Archie Warner.

Kitchener Everett Simmons denied one charge of serious sexual assault on a woman. The offence was alleged to have occurred on June 19, 1995.

He was released on $10,000 bail. He was represented by lawyer Mr. Michael Scott.

Anthony William Brangman pleaded not guilty to importing cocaine between January 1 and January 12, 1995.

He also denied importing cannabis between January 1 and January 12, 1995.

Brangman also pleaded not guilty to importing cocaine and possessing the drug with intent to supply on February 15, 1995 in St. George's.

Brangman, who was represented by lawyer Mr. Mark Pettingill, will appear for mention on November 1. His trial date will be set at that time.

Melvin Bernard Edwards pleaded guilty to importing cocaine on June 9, 1995. He was also charged with possession of the drug with intent to supply and handling the drug with intent to supply.

However, Crown counsel Mr. Brian Calhoun asked that the latter two charges be left on the record in light of his guilty plea to the importation charge.

He will be sentenced this morning. Mr. Warner appears on his behalf.
