A Southampton man has been banned from the roads for a year and has been ordered to do 20 hours of community service for a string of traffic offences.

In Magistrates’ Court yesterday, Anthony Outerbridge, 54, admitted to not having insurance, a vehicle licence or a driver’s licence on January 21 and February 7.

He pleaded not guilty to a separate charge that alleged that he stole $45 worth of items from Sears Ltd in Pembroke on February 2.

The court heard that Outerbridge is serving 12 months probation for another offence and has outstanding fines of $1,800, as well as 17 active demerit points.

Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo disqualified Outerbridge from driving all vehicles for a year for both counts of not holding a valid driver’s licence and ordered that he do a total of 20 hours of community service for not having insurance or a vehicle licence on the two separate occasions. Furthermore, Outerbridge is to pay $200 weekly towards his fine.

Mr Tokunbo granted $1,000 bail on the alleged theft charge and adjourned the matter to August 17 for trial.
