Insurance and reinsurance giant Ace has launched its 12-week summer intern programme.

A total of six students are to join the firm for the Ace Select scheme, now in its third year.

Ace Bermuda chief administration officer Samantha Froud said: “We are delighted with the success of the Ace Select internship programme.

“Ace is a global leader in developing young talent and this exciting internship submerges students into a summer filled with various learning experiences, including professional development workshops, networking events and a community service project.”

George Campbell, who is studying at Skidmore College in New York State, said: “I am very excited to join the Ace Select internship programme and for the opportunity to learn the fundamentals of the insurance industry and international business under the guidance of Ace professionals.

“The hands on experience while working in a team environment will help me develop the professional skills necessary to begin my career in the insurance industry in Bermuda.”

Ace added that it was to hire two former Ace Select students full-time.

And two of the 2014 interns — Julia Dunne, studying at Georgetown University in Washington DC and Denzel Simons, who has graduated from Florida International University — have been invited back for a second year to work in specific business units.

The other first-time interns are Noah Browne, of Amherst College, Massachusetts, Tatyana Butterfield, studying at Temple University, Philadelphia, Aaron Phillips, who attends Manchester Metropolitan University in England, JayLynn Hynes, who is at the University of Toronto and Georgia State University student Deondre Trott.

The Select internship ends in August, with students presenting the outcome of their final project to Ace business leaders in a bid to showcase their knowledge of the insurance business in Bermuda.
