Thieves busy
$1,200 in cash was stolen from a Cove Valley Lane, St. David's residence during the day. Also stolen was a ladies Seiko watch and $88 in cash from a Pembroke guest accommodation during the early morning while the guest was sleeping.
A Devonshire man returned home in mid-afternoon to find his Railway Terrace home had been broken into and approximately US$100 taken from a pair of trousers hanging in his closet.
Police reported a break-in at Friendship Vale school where an office was searched, some windows were broken and a plastic tub valued at $20 stolen.
Meanwhile a handbag snatch was reported around 10.30 p.m. on Tuesday along Pitts Bay Road in Pembroke. A visiting couple were walking west along the road when a motorcyclist rode alongside and snatched the lady's Gucci pouch from her hand and rode off.
INDECENT EXPOSURE CRM Indecent exposure Police are appealing for information after a female tourist said she witnessed an indecent exposure at Shelly Bay beach on Tuesday afternoon.
A Police spokesperson said the woman was sitting on the Hamilton Parish beach around 4 p.m. when she was startled by a noise in the bushes behind her.
"Looking on she saw a man behaving indecently,'' the spokesperson added.
"Realising he had been discovered he rode off on a motorcycle. If anyone was around at that time and saw a man riding away from the bushes or acting suspiciously we are anxious to speak to them.'' TOURIST FINED CTS Tourist fined A female American tourist was fined $3,000 in Magistrates' Court yesterday after she admitted importing 31.22 grams of cannabis.
Karin Alatzas, of Long Island, New York, also pleaded guilty to possession of the drug. Sgt. Wilbert McLean, prosecuting, said the 37-year-old was caught with the cannabis as she arrived at the Civil Air Terminal on May 22 at 8.15 p.m.
He said she was subject to a search by customs officers and a small piece of plant material was found in her handbag and a larger amount in her pantyhose.
Duty counsel Mr. Kim White said Alatzas, a housewife, had fully co-operated with Police.
Senior Magistrate the Wor. Will Francis ordered Alatzas to pay $2,000 for importing the drug and $1,000 for possessing it.
Double trouble A 20-year-old man caught with cocaine and cannabis on Valentine's Day, was fined $700 in Magistrates' Court yesterday.
Kino Outerbridge of Cochrane Lane, Sandys, pleaded guilty to the drug offences.
Sgt. Wilbert McLean, prosecuting, said officers travelling on Parson's Road at 2.27 a.m., observed Outerbridge driving down Angle Street when they stopped him on another matter.
The officers decided to search the car and found a rock-like substance and plant material hidden underneath the front passenger seat. Outerbridge was arrested and admitted he bought four "white rocks'' earlier on Court Street for $70.
He said he was given the cannabis as a bonus.
Senior Magistrate the Wor. Will Francis fined Outerbridge $600 for possessing the cocaine and $100 for the cannabis.
CAUGHT WITH COKE CTS Caught with coke A Sandys Parish man was fined $150 in Magistrates' Court yesterday after he admitted possessing cocaine.
Charles Christopher, 32, of Scotts Hill Road, was caught with the drugs in front of Somerset Cricket Club on November 10.
Police prosecutor Sgt. Wilbert McLean said officers visited the club as a result of information received. Christopher was spotted walking away from the main gate and was told he would be searched.
Sgt. McLean said Christopher began pushing his hands in his pockets and pulled out brown paper twists containing a white substance.
He was arrested. When analysed, the twists were found to contain 0.01 grams of cocaine with 76 percent purity.
