possessing $100,000 worth of cannabis with intent to supply.

Richard Bernardo, 33, and Andrew Sheen, 34, both of Mangrove Bay Road, pleaded not guilty to joint counts of possession of cannabis when they appeared before Magistrate Edward King yesterday.

They were both also jointly charged with possession with intent to supply and possession of materials intended for the misuse of a controlled drug.

In addition, Bernardo was charged with straightforward possession of cannabis and Rizzla papers and matches while Sheen was charged with possession of a controlled drug and drug-related equipment.

The two men were arrested by Police in September and originally granted bail.

But when Mr.King discovered the amount of drugs involved he insisted that the two men should be remanded in custody.

The case was adjourned until December 1.

WARWICK MAN DRIVES INTO TROUBLE CTS Warwick man drives into trouble A Warwick man yesterday pleaded guilty in Magistrates' Court to driving while impaired.

David Griffin, 47, of Warwickshire Drive, admitted riding a Peugeot scooter on October 17 while under the influence of alcohol.

Police prosecutor Sgt. Phil Taylor told the court that around 2.45 a.m.

officers on patrol near Crow Lane, Paget, saw Griffin ride past at a high speed.

The officers signalled him to stop and when attempting to do so, Griffin crossed into the opposite lane. The officers asked Griffin if he had been drinking.

He replied: "Yes, I had four or five pints at BAA bingo.'' A breath sample revealed he had 204 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood. The legal limit is 80 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood.

Magistrate Edward King fined Griffin $600 and banned him from driving all motor vehicles for 12 months.

DRINK-DRIVING COSTS MOTORIST $600 CTS Drink-driving costs motorist $600 A Paget man was yesterday fined and banned from driving all motor vehicles for a year for driving while impaired.

Roberto Mascolo, 32, who lives in the Little Venice staff quarters known as Buena Vista Hotel, admitted the October 4 offence.

Police prosecutor Sgt. Phil Taylor told Magistrates' Court that Police officers were travelling west on Middle Road in Paget at around 4.25 a.m. when Mascolo overtook them on a blind corner, just past the Paget stop lights.

The officers had to slam on brakes to avoid colliding with Mascolo's auxiliary cycle.

Sgt. Taylor said Mascolo then slowed down and without indicating turned onto Valley Road. He continued to ride along Valley Road in the wrong lane and when he reached Harbour Road failed to stop at the stop sign.

A breath test showed he had 177 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood. The legal limit is 80 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood.

Magistrate Edward King ordered Mascolo to pay a $600 fine and disqualified him from driving all motor vehicles for the next 12 months.

DRIVER PAYS PENALTY FOR IGNORING BAN CTS Driver pays penalty for ignoring ban An unemployed Pembroke woman was fined $500 and banned from driving for a further 12 months yesterday -- after pleading guilty to driving while already disqualified.

Doreen Darrell, 20, of Rambling Lane, was stopped by traffic officers in November last year while riding a motorbike on Woodlands Road.

When questioned she admitted she had already been banned from driving for two years in February, 1996.

Darrell will now have to wait until February, 1999 before she is allowed on the road again.
