New 350-seat Marine and Ports ferry to arrive this month

The Island's newest Marine and Ports ferry is undergoing sea trials off Bridgeport, Connecticut before it makes its voyage to Bermuda later this month.

A new 350-seat catamaran ferry will arrive on the Island later this month, and according to Government will enter commuter service soon after.

The fast ferry, which is similar in design to the Warbaby Fox, will be Bermuda's sixth and newest catamaran ferry, brought in by the Department of Marine and Ports.

Right now the catamaran is at Long Island Sound in Bridgeport, Connecticut undergoing a series of mandatory manoeuvres and speed testing, which have gone "extremely well" according to Francis Richardson, Director of the Department of Marine and Port Services.

Once testing is complete, the vessel will embark on its almost 30-hour journey to Bermuda.
