The Bermuda Post Office is going hi-tech - soon it will have its own website where customers can learn about its services and give feedback.

Postmaster General George Outerbridge made the announcement during the launch of Postal Awareness Week on Monday. He also promised that postal services would be back to normal as soon as possible after being disrupted by Hurricane Fabian last month.

Mr. Outerbridge, flanked by colleagues, said the website was being designed and would soon be up and running.

"The website will be an interactive tool that will allow members of the public to learn about our services and give us feedback about how we are doing," Mr. Outerbridge said.

The week was chosen to overlap with World Post Day which will be officially recognised tomorrow.

In Bermuda the day will also be marked by the issue of a First Day Cover stamp, he said.

Although the Airmail Facility at the Bermuda International Airport was damaged during Fabian, Mr. Outerbridge said a new facility had been located and he was confident that mail services would get back to normal as soon as possible.

"The effects of Hurricane Fabian have challenged our organisation in some unique ways, but I am pleased to report that staff have used the difficulties that Fabian brought as an opportunity to practise teamwork."
