sexual assault which saw a 19-year-old Hamilton Parish woman taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital early yesterday morning. Police received a report of an alleged assault taking place near Curving Avenue in Pembroke shortly after 5 a.m.

POLICE PROBE HARROWING ROBBERY ATTEMPT CRM Police probe harrowing robbery attempt A 27-year-old Sandy's woman was allegedly put through a harrowing incident early Sunday morning when a man tried to rob her as she rode home and then forced her to take him into her house.

Police reported the man was disturbed by a house guest and fled before he could steal anything. The woman told Police she was travelling on an auxiliary cycle toward her Daiseyfield Drive home at about 3 a.m. when an unknown man on a cycle stopped her.

The man allegedly demanded money before he searched her pockets, took her keys and searched the cycle's storage compartment.

She said he found nothing and demanded that she take him to her home so he could try and find cash there. Once inside the house, the man was disturbed by the guest and fled the scene.

BELCO CREWS CONTAIN FUEL LEAK BUC Belco crews contain fuel leak Belco yesterday suffered a fuel leak during the process of making its new electricity plant fully operational.

Employees were in the process of bringing a new fuel system on line when the leak was noticed and were able to quickly contain it.

A spokeswoman for the utility company reported yesterday that the leak was relatively minor but stressed that any kind of leak was considered serious by the firm's generation and environment departments. She said it occurred during the afternoon while workers were switching over from the plant's old fuel system to a new one using a parallel process involving a system of valves.

The fuel leaked into the canal bordering the fuel containment area and employees contained it using "oil-sorbent'' booms before absorbing the fuel from the surrounding concreted ground using a "dry oil-sorbent fan''.

PREMIER GETS PHYSICAL IN BOSTON VIP HTH Premier gets physical in Boston Premier Jennifer Smith is in Boston for her annual medical check up at the Lahey clinic.

Government Information Services said the Premier would be returning to Bermuda later this week after the examination.

Earlier in the week Ms. Smith had been in Dublin to make a speech at XL Europe's Tenth Anniversary celebrations.

WOMAN FALLS VICTIM TO HANGBAG SNATCHER CRM Woman falls victim to handbag snatcher A 33-year-old Pembroke woman was the alleged victim of a handbag snatch on Monday night.

She told Police she was travelling on an auxiliary cycle north on Trimingham Road in Paget at 8.15 p.m. when she felt a tug on the bag which was strapped to her body. The alleged thief, who had approached her from behind on a motorcycle, then cut the strap of the bag and escaped. Police have a brief description of the man.
