Police are not revealing any details about the decomposed body found in Sandys Parish on Thursday which may have lay undiscovered since July 28.

A Police spokesman said yesterday that officers had launched an "intense investigation" and were still treating the death as suspicious.

They were also making every effort to identify the body yesterday and an autopsy to determine the cause of death is expected to be carried out soon.

VSB news was reporting yesterday that the individual was a Colombian man with ties to the international drug smuggling trade.

However, a senior Policeman involved in the investigation said last night: "This is news to me. This is the first time I'm hearing this."

Police have also appealed for witnesses who may have seen any suspicious activity in the area of Lagoon Park and Lefroy House between July 28 and August 9 to contact Detective Chief Inspector Earl Kirby at 299-4315 or call the Crime Stoppers number, 1-800-623-8477.

A livery cycle from Oleander Cycles was found at the scene and Oleander Cycles general manager Geoffrey Gibbons said yesterday that it was a Police matter and so he could not make any comment.

Police refused to release any details about the incident yesterday and would not even confirm if the body was that of a man or a woman.
