Men deny drugs charges in the Supreme Court

Two Sandys residents charged with drug offences had their bail extended in Supreme Court yesterday.

Oshane Eugene Darrell, 26, and Jennifer Medeiros 21, both of Seawall Drive, are charged with possession of cocaine with intent to supply and possession of drug equipment, namely digital scales on November 22 last year.

They are represented by Allan Doughty and overseas counsel Frank Phipps QC. They are expected to receive a trial date at next month?s arraignments session.

Also in Supreme Court yesterday were two men facing numerous drug charges. Patrick Stamp, 20, of Pembroke and Garnell Hollis, 25, of Hamilton Parish, are charged with conspiracy to import cocaine, importation, and possession with intent to supply.

Puisne Judge Charles-Etta Simmons adjourned the matter until tomorrow.

Magistrate discharges public drinker

A 55-year-old Pembroke man was yesterday given an absolute discharge for drinking in public.

In April Police responded to a complaint that a group of men were drinking alcohol and using offensive language on Front Street. Dennis Eugene Hodson was seen drinking out of a Budweiser can and arrested.

Hodson, of Fordham Hall, Pembroke, admitted to drinking in public in court yesterday. But he received the shock of his life when Magistrate Ed King told him that he could be fined $2,880 and sent to prison for six months.

?Two thousand dollars? Oh come on. Stop that nonsense!? he said. Asked why he decided to drink in public, Hodson said: ?Once in a while a man just feels like having a cold beer and watching the girls a bit.?

Mr. King advised him to seek a bar with alfresco facilities in future, before giving him an absolute discharge, saying his guilty plea and the fact that he had no previous convictions had worked in his favour. ?Having been in custody for two days I shall not convict you, I discharge you absolutely,? Mr. King said.

Alleged drug importer has bail extended

A 36-year-old Hamilton Parish man, had his bail extended in the Supreme Court.

Jamal Hart is charged with importing cannabis, possession with intent to supply, and possession of drug equipment. He will appear at the November 1 arraignments session for mention.

Sentencing Friday for housebreaker

A repeat housebreaker will be sentenced for two house breaking convictions on Friday.

Toriano Elmario Dunkley, 33, of Pembroke, was convicted in July of breaking and entering into Leon Simmons? home on October 10, 2002. Yesterday in Supreme Court Dunkley admitted to breaking and entering into Doug and Allison Hillan?s home on November 20, 2002.
