Concerned residents and business owners around North Hamilton will begin to see new projects intended to improve the area.

The Corporation of Hamilton has decided to resurface and plant additional trees near the junction of Dundonald and Court Street.

"The Corporation has been working on upgrading North Hamilton and this has been an ongoing plan," Roger Sherratt a Corporation spokesman said.

Growing frustration over the Dundonald and Court Street junction have brought the Corporation and Police together to begin to fix the problem Mr. Sherratt said.

"That area was fairly scruffy and there have been concerns about the car park in particular so we planned to put up a barrier between Court Street and the parking lot to make it look more attractive," Mr. Sherratt said.

A man who is familiar with the area said that there was a possibility the park was being named for a man well known to the north of town site, E.F. Gordon, father of former Premier Pamela Gordon. Mr. Gordon owned a good amount of real estate in the neighbourhood and was a civil rights and labour activist for Bermuda.

"The park should be in the Guinness Book of World Records for being the smallest park, but it is still nice to see improvement," the man said.

North Hamilton will be seeing more changes in the future as more business' begin to be built and Hamilton moves further back. The area man said that North Hamilton would be a completely different picture in a few years since the city was expanding.

A business man who had complained of the use of illegal drugs around his establishment said he was happy to see that there had been changes and believed the Police were doing a good job around the vicinity.
