and shouting yesterday.

Gary Wendell Jones, of Ewing Street, Pembroke, pleaded guilty to two counts of sexual assault against a woman and her eight-year-old daughter and was due to be sentenced by Puisne Judge Norma Wade.

Crown Counsel Wilhelm Bourne said the woman drove her car to Albouy's Point in Hamilton around 1 p.m. on January 2 so that her daughter could use the restroom.

She parked her car outside the restroom and waited as her daughter went to the toilet. The woman's son asked to use the toilet also and was told to go with his sister.

The woman then saw Jones walk from Albouy's Point into the ladies' restroom.

When she went to see if her children were safe, the woman confronted Jones and told him to leave.

Jones then grabbed the woman's forearms and pushed her against a partition.

He pulled up her sweater and grabbed her T-shirt between her breasts. Jones then used his other hand to grab her crotch.

When the woman began screaming "leave me alone'', Jones let go of the woman and walked out of the restroom.

The woman then ran to her car and called Police. Jones was arrested later that day.

Under questioning, he admitted sexually assaulting the eight-year-old girl as well.

It was revealed in court yesterday by defence lawyer Richard Hector that Jones was a paranoid schizophrenic who drank alcohol and engaged in "mild controlled drug use''.

Jones had spent a number of years in both St. Brendan's Hospital and the former Casemates prison. He recently served a 12-month sentence for slapping an off-duty Police woman on the buttocks in broad daylight.

Mr. Hector requested that a custodial sentence be given so that Jones could receive treatment.

But Mrs. Justice Wade said she wanted additional assistance from psychological experts before handing down a sentence.

Upon hearing Mrs. Justice Wade suggest an adjournment, Jones became angry and began shouting: "It's gone back and forth, back and forth.'' "I just want my trial to be over ...,'' screamed Jones. "I'm not an animal. I'm not going to just go out and jump on somebody.'' When Mrs. Justice Wade explained to Jones that she needed a psychiatric evaluation in order to fairly sentence him, he shouted: "I shouldn't even get a sentence.'' "If you lock me up, I'm gonna do the same thing again,'' he warned before being removed from the Court by prison officers.

The trial was adjourned for three weeks.

A separate case involving 41-year-old sex offender Ronald James Tucker was also adjourned yesterday.

Tucker was committed to Supreme Court for sentencing by Senior Magistrate Will Francis last February.

Tucker admitted sexually assaulting three women within 24 hours after being discharged from prison for serving part of a three-year sentence for a sexual offence.

Mr. Bourne told Mrs. Justice Wade that the Tucker case was "similar to what we just dealt with'', and suggested that the same course of psychiatric evaluation be taken.

Mrs. Justice Wade agreed and said she wanted to know both the "diagnosis and prognosis'' for Tucker.

Tucker, who was representing himself, had no objections.

He is also scheduled to return to court July 23 for sentencing.
