Coke drives Boulevard forward
Ian Coke scored four goals as Boulevard Blazers, the First Division leaders, beat X-Roads 4-2 at Garrison Field yesterday.
Boulevard continued their push towards promotion as Coke netted twice in each half to take his tally for the season to 17, the highest in the division. The loss for X-Roads, their fifth of the season, leaves them 12 points away from the second promotion spot which effectively rules them out of the race with just five games remaining.
Devonshire Colts hold down that second spot after beating Ireland Island Rangers 3-0. Kyle Jones scored a goal in each half for Colts while Teneko Eve got the other in the second half.
BAA Wanderers made it eight wins on the trot when they beat Paget Lions 4-0 at Southampton Oval where Morricko Iris scored a hat-trick, before Josh Hardtman netted a fourth in the 69th minute.
Somerset Eagles cruised to victory at Bernard Park, beating Young Men’s Social Club 2-0.
The visiting side took the lead through Rodre Wilson’s clever lob, and poor defending meant Social Club fell further in arrears in the 43rd minute. A long ball played deep in the host side’s penalty area was partially cleared, allowing Davin Riley-Clarke to score with crisp volley on the turn to make the points safe.
In the other match, Wolves kept their promotion hopes alive with a 4-1 win away over St David’s. Sergio Richardson scored twice, Alleyne Francis and Kyle Brangman grabbed the others, with Justin Pitcher on target for St David’s.
