BA reveals shift to Gatwick’s South Terminal

British Airways will move from London Gatwick’s North Terminal to its South Terminal next year.

The airline is expected to switch terminals at the end of 2016, although an exact date has not been revealed.

The move will also include the construction of a new check-in area and lounge.

A spokeswoman for British Airways told The Royal Gazette: “Gatwick airport approached BA in early 2014 to ask whether we would consider a move to the South Terminal.

“The South Terminal has received significant investment in recent years and, to that end, we were happy to consider a move to a new home that will enable us to deliver an even better service for our customers.

“This is an exciting opportunity for British Airways and our customers. The South Terminal has recently received significant investment to its security area and departure lounge, and BA will be working with Gatwick to provide our customers with a new check-in area and lounge.

“The South Terminal also has direct access to trains that run to and from Central London.

“We will let our customers know as soon as we have a firm date. Gatwick airport plans for this to happen by the end of 2016, but there is still a significant amount of work required to deliver this.

“We are working with Gatwick airport to ensure the new facilities in the South Terminal will enable us to maintain the highest levels of service for our customers.”
