A Warwick woman admitted this morning to stealing a bottle of alcohol from a grocery store.

Santokh Sandhu-Hunt, 61, pleaded guilty in Magistrates’ Court to stealing vodka, worth $20, from Lindo’s in Warwick.

The court heard that at about 10.20am on December 16, store staff saw Sandhu-Hunt place a bottle of Aristocrat Vodka in her purse while shopping. She later went to the checkout and purchased several items, but left the store without paying for the alcohol.

She was subsequently stopped in the parking lot by the store’s manager and Police were contacted.

Sandhu-Hunt denied stealing the vodka in the manner described while talking to officers, but she admitted the theft in court.

Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo ordered that pre-sentencing reports be carried out on the defendant, releasing her on $500 bail.
