Aspen hires Slot from Beazley

Aspen Insurance, the insurance segment of Bermuda-based Aspen Insurance Holdings Ltd, has appointed Peter Slot as global head of accident and health.

Reporting to Bernie de Haldevang, head of FINPRO International and Bruce Eisler, executive vice-president, US Financial Products — Professional Lines, this is a new role within Aspen Insurance’s Financial and Professional Lines team.

Mr Slot will join Aspen Insurance in the spring of 2015 from Beazley where he was, until recently, head of Accident and Health (A&H) in the United States with responsibility for both insurance and reinsurance as well as having substantial involvement in the London-based business.

He will be based in London. Mr Slot will be responsible for developing Aspen Insurance’s global offering in the A&H sector, leveraging its existing capabilities in this market and will also work closely with Aspen Re to identify and develop opportunities.

He will be based in London but will also spend a significant amount of his time in the US. Rupert Villers, chairman of Aspen Insurance, said: “Peter has over 30 years of industry experience and is a highly respected leader in this field. He will bring extensive product and market expertise to this role and we look forward to welcoming him to Aspen Insurance and supporting him in building our Accident and Health product offering globally.”

Prior to Beazley, where Peter has worked for six years, he was Regional Underwriting Manager, A&H UK and Ireland, for AIG UK Ltd and before that, he held senior underwriting roles with Houston Casualty Company (London) and Kiln Syndicate.
