Diamond puts on reception for Equitable Life of Canada executives

The demise of British American Insurance Company has resulted in a number of other companies picking up its business.One such company is Diamond Company Ltd, which is run by Anthony Francis, and is the sole representative for the Equitable Life Insurance Company of Canada on the Island the only place which the insurer operates outside of its home country.To make the 35-year plus partnership between the two, Phil Delucia and Kevin Powell, both assistant vice-presidents of the Equitable Life Insurance Company of Canada and representatives for the Waterloo, Kitchener and Toronto region, flew down to Bermuda for a small reception where they met with Mr Francis and his team and clients at the Royal Amateur Dinghy Club on Monday night.The Diamond Company was set up by principal and chartered life underwriter R Arliss Francis in 1976 and was taken over by his son Anthony Francis who joined company in 1987 and assumed responsibility for its running in 2000.Operating as a life insurance vendor for the Equitable Life Insurance Company of Canada, the company today has around 1,000 clients in Bermuda and that number has been growing since the winding up of British American.“The effect of the fallout from British American is that people have been looking for a strong life insurance company with a good reputation that will be there for them,” said Mr Francis.“We see a good future going forward with the Equitable Life Insurance Company of Canada.“Our products are competitive in the market place and I think that is what brings new clients in through the door.”Mr Francis put the success of his company down to the personal touch and having a strong administrative team.The Equitable Life Insurance Company of Canada is a 90-year-old Canadian mutual life insurance company and its representatives visit Bermuda once a year.
