Glover to join Brothers & Sisters cast
Q: I'm a fan of actor Danny Glover. What is he doing next? ¿ A.S.
A: He stars in an upcoming Canadian drama called Poor Boy's Game, a musical drama called Honeydripper, the comedy Be Kind Reward, with Jack Black, due out next year and the animated film Terra. Currently, he's filming the drama Gospel Hill, with Julia Stiles, and a thriller called Blindness, with Julianne Moore, due out in March. He's also due to join the cast of the TV series Brothers & Sisters for eight to ten episodes, playing the love interest of Sally Field's character. And there's always a chance that he'll return to ER for a few episodes.
Q: What is going to happen to Jay Leno when he leaves The Tonight Show? ¿ M.L.
A: That's a question that many have been considering since the announcement of the plan to hand the show's reins to Conan O'Brien in 2009. Leno apparently has been mulling over a jump to a competing network for a show at the same hour, but new NBC programming chief Ben Silverman is determined to hold on to Leno and has suggested coming up with something in prime time for him . . . but there are no definite plans yet.
Q: Is it true Rosie O'Donnell is going to be on The Apprentice next season? ¿ N.D.
A: As O'Donnell said when the invitation to next season's celebrity-contestant Apprentice was offered, not in this lifetime or beyond. Given the heat of the feud between O'Donnell and Apprentice host Donald Trump last year, O'Donnell isn't willing to become a publicity stunt and ratings booster for his show ¿ or to be anywhere near him.
Q: I remember reading there was going to be another movie of The X-Files. I loved that show. Is it going to happen? ¿ A.G.
A: That project has been in development for years, but star David Duchovny recently said that creator Chris Carter has written a script, which he expected to see within a few weeks. Assuming all goes well, the film could go into production in November for a summer '08 release, with Duchovny and co-star Gillian Anderson both on board.
Q: Whatever happened to actor Freddy Rodriguez of Six Feet Under. I always liked him? ¿ K.F.
A: Rodriguez, who played mortician Federico Diaz on the show, has been very busy since, guest-starring on ER and with movie roles such as one in the recent Grindhouse. He next stars in a drama called Bottle Shock, about the beginning of the wine industry in California's Napa Valle, and is joining the cast of Ugly Betty.
Q: I always thought Brooke Shields was a good actress. Is she doing anything new? ¿ L.J.
A: Yes, she has a role in the upcoming comedy National Lampoon's Bag Boy, and in the gruesome-sounding thriller Midnight Meat Train, due out next year. And she's due back on TV this fall as one of the stars of the series Lipstick Jungle.
Q: Whatever happened to that adorable Sanjaya from American Idol? ¿ N.I.
A: Sanjaya, the popular if not vocally brilliant Idol contestant, has taken his stage presence and various hairstyles on tour with others from the show ¿ they're currently performing across the US and given his notoriety, undoubtedly his visibility won't end there.
Q: I think Jessica Biel is so beautiful. What will she be in next? ¿ F.G.
A: The actress, currently onscreen in I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry, is due to co-star with Annette Bening and Sienna Miller in a new film based on the Oscar Wilde play A Woman of No Importance, and with Forest Whitaker and Ray Liotta in the drama Powder Blue. Both are due out next year.
Q: What is wonderful Bill Murray doing? I think he's so underrated as an actor. ¿ N.D.
A: His peers value him, however, as evidenced by his Oscar nomination for Lost in Translation. He's currently filming the adventure City of Ember, with Tim Robbins, due out next year.
Q: I'm a huge fan of The Wire. When is the show coming back? ¿ K.P.
A: The gritty HBO series about life on the mean, drug-infested streets of Baltimore returns early next year for what may well be its final season . . . although its fans hope, for good reason, that creator David Simon changes his mind.
