The son of a Progressive Labour Party MP is understood to have been arrested for allegedly trying to smuggle an illegal amount of currency out of Bermuda.

Aaron Neville Scott, son of PLP backbencher George A. Scott, is understood to have been arrested in Bermuda but has since been bailed.

US Customs officers caught the 21-year-old Warwick man at the Bermuda International Airport on Saturday on suspicion of trying to leave the Island with an undisclosed amount of cash strapped on his arm.

The man was reported to be at the final inspection desk before boarding an afternoon Continental flight when the hidden hoard was discovered and seized.

Police spokesman Dwayne Caines would only confirm yesterday that a 21-year-old Warwick man had been in Police custody assisting Officers with inquiries regarding a foreign currency exchange violation. The Warwick man was released by Police on Wednesday.

When asked about the story yesterday, Mr. Scott, is the Member of Parliament for Warwick North Central, denied that his son has charged with anything before rushing out of the Bermuda Industrial Union.
