Motorists airlifted off Island for medical treatment

Two people have been airlifted off the Island for medical treatment following serious accidents.A Hamilton Parish resident and a tourist are now being treated overseas following accidents on Tuesday, a Police spokesman said.The 47-year-old resident’s motorcycle and a car collided as both vehicles attempted to negotiate the round-a-bout near Barkers Hill on North Shore Road around 12.45pm, the spokesman said.The second unrelated accident occurred around 4.30pm near the junction of Keith Hall and Harbour Roads in Warwick.Said the spokesman: “It appears that a rental cycle was being ridden along Keith Hall Road when it collided with a wall.“The rider, a 70-year-old American man, was injured and initially taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment.“However the victim, who was visiting the Island at the time of the collision, was airlifted overseas this morning for further medical treatment.”Witnesses are asked to contact Pc L’Oreal Gibbons on 295-0011 regarding the first accident and Pc Barbi Harris on 295-0011 with any information on the second.
