The owner of Casey's Lounge pleaded not guilty to serving liquor outside of licence hours in Magistrates' Court yesterday.

Gladwin Phillips, 45, of Pembroke, will be tried on May 4 for the offence, which allegedly occurred on February 15.

Traffic charges denied

Everett Jahni Bean, 21, of Jones Lane, Warwick, appeared in Magistrates' Court on Wednesday for a number traffic offences he allegedly committed before he went to prison.

Bean pleaded not guilty to speeding at 73 kph on Middle Road on December 7, 2003, but pleaded guilty to driving without a licence or valid insurance.

Acting Senior Magistrate Carlisle Greaves fined Bean $100 or ten days in prison for not having a drivers licence, and $1,000 for not having insurance.

His trial for speeding is on April 21.

Bean also denied speeding on a silver Peugeot at 64 kph on Middle Road a month earlier, on November 7, 2003. He also denied driving without a driver's licence and driving without insurance. He will be tried on April 22.

Woman denies theft

A 20-year-old yesterday denied stealing hair products from the Phoenix Store.

Latoya Shania Butterfield, of Smith's, pleaded not guilty to stealing a package of Dark and Lovely hair relaxer from the Reid Street store on February 12. Butterfield was released on $500 bail and will be tried on April 19.
