Seized dogs in Govt. kennels
The dogs seized by Police in a raid over the weekend are still at the Government kennels while the case is under investigation.
The 16 pitbulls were seized on January 30 as Police arrested four men and also seized 130 cannabis plants in a daylight raid.
The officers, acting on a tip-off, executed a search warrant on Government property near Middle Terrace, off Friswells Road, Pembroke. Many of the dogs were scarred, and thought to have been used in fighting. A canine treadmill ? a common piece of training equipment in dog fighting ? was also recovered from the scene.
When asked if the dogs would be put down due to their alleged fighting nature, Government vet Dr. Jonathon Nisbett said he was unable to answer because of the legal issues involved in the investigation.
