Two American Bulldogs who had a questionable future ahead of them may soon be leaving the Island for homes elsewhere if everything goes as planned.

Society of the Prevention of Cruelty (SPCA) chairman and head of the Bermuda Veterinarians Association Dr. Andrew Madeiros said last night that the National American Bulldog Rescue Association (NABRA) have expressed interested in taking the two dogs Sensie and Rizlah off the hands of the SPCA.

“We had a reviewer from NABRA come to the Island this weekend. He spent about three hours with the dogs examining them and they have expressed interest in the dogs,” said Dr. Madeiros.

He said that everything sounds positive. However he has not received confirmation from NABRA as to what their intentions were for the dogs but he was hoping to have word from them soon.

One condition of transfer is that the dogs be spayed and neutered before they leave Bermuda.

“The committee has met and they have agreed that they will hand over the dogs,” said Dr. Madeiros. “I am in the process of drafting up a letter of transfer for the dogs, everything should be done by Wednesday.”

He added that the NABRA will be responsible for making any necessary arrangements for the dogs to leave the Island.

“For now the dogs will be put into a foster situation, before they leave the Island,” said Dr. Madeiros.
