Two passengers who arrived on a British Airways flight have tested positive for the coronavirus, the Ministry of Health said today.

The pair are “symptomatic” residents who received a positive result on their Day 4 test after they left London on October 17 with negative pre-departure tests.

A spokeswoman for the Ministry of Health said that the cases were isolated and contact tracing had begun.

The two cases were among 996 test results received by the ministry yesterday.

The health ministry spokeswoman reminded the public that residents returning without a negative pre-departure test must test on arrival, Day 8 and Day 14. They must quarantine until they receive negative results from their Day 8 test.

Residents flying back to the island with a negative pre-departure test must test on arrival as well as on days 4, 8 and 14 of their return.

Bermuda has had 190 total confirmed cases of the coronavirus.

Of those, six are active and under public health monitoring. None of the current cases is in hospital.

A total of 175 people have recovered from the virus and nine people with Covid-19 have died.

Of the 190 cases, 79 were imported, 90 were transmitted locally with a known contact and 21 were transmitted locally with an unknown contact.

Bermuda’s country status is “sporadic cases” and the seven-day average of our real time reproduction number is less than 1.
