New cargo jet serving Island

There is a new plane delivering overnight cargo to and from Bermuda. Canadian company Cargojet has taken over the role of cargo carrier for the Island from previous operator Can-X.

The switch took place at the start of the month and represents the first scheduled international cargo route for Cargojet, which has been given clearance to operate from its hub in Hamilton, Ontario providing a service to Newark and Bermuda.

?This new service will provide both Canadian and US-based shippers direct air cargo service to and from Canada to Newark and Bermuda, which will be serviced by our current fleet of Boeing 727-200 Advanced Freighters,? said the company in a statement.

Cargojet is expecting to increase its annual revenue from between $6 to $8 million.
