Traffic chaos is unnecessary

April 29, 2014

Dear Sir,

I was one of the hundreds of motorists caught up in the traffic chaos on Tuesday afternoon, two hours after a single vehicle accident involving a Police motor cycle.

Unless it is a fatal, or potential fatal accident, there is absolutely no need to block off roads and attempt to divert traffic.

As it occurred so close to the hospital it would only be a matter of minutes to find out the extent of the rider’s injuries, and then using Police Officers, direct traffic around the area.

If necessary photographs from a cell phone, or other type of photographic device, could have been used to photograph the scene, and then move the vehicle.

If measurements had to be taken, then mark the position of the bike prior to movement.

I respectfully suggest that an experienced police officer look at ways to quickly and efficiently deal with accidents with minor interruption to the motoring public.

John Graham
