Men charged with alleged murders in St. David's appear at court

Roger Lightbourne

Two men charged with the alleged murders of Maxwell Brangman and Frederick Gilbert in St. David's made a brief appearance in Magistrates' Court yesterday.

Darronte Dill, 18, of Fentons Drive, Pembroke, is accused of murdering both of the homeless friends, whose bodies were found near the Black Horse Tavern last month.

Roger Lightbourne Sr., 40, of Tommy Fox Road, St. David's, is charged solely with the murder of Mr. Brangman.

They were flanked by several Police and prison officers during the five-minute hearing, which saw lawyer Elizabeth Christopher confirm that she represents Lightbourne. Rick Woolridge, who was not present, represents Dill.

The defendants greeted each other after being led separately into court, with Lightbourne punching his hand to his chest in an apparent gesture of support.

They then sat quietly as Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner adjourned the case until a further administrative hearing and remanded them back into custody.
