A car stolen from an 84-year-old women at the weekend has been recovered. Police confirmed that Joan Wilkie?s new Nissan March was found on Euclid Avenue, Pembroke, on Monday. It was taken to the Police compound and was due to be searched for fingerprints or other evidence.
Mrs. Wilkie?s daughter, Annabella Fraser, said that her mother was ?thrilled? when she heard the car had been recovered. She said she understood there was a dent on the back, but inside was fine.
She said that coverage in had helped locate the car, with people calling her offering assistance.
Mrs. Wilkie had her purse swiped from the car on Saturday evening. That purse contained a locking device for her vehicle, which she bought less than a week earlier. The Nissan was then stolen from her Pembroke driveway hours after the purse was taken.
A 49-year-old tourist was mugged by two men on Rose Hill Street in St. George?s on Monday evening.
She was walking back to her accommodation with her family at 8.55 p.m. after having dinner when she was approached by two men who grabbed her handbag and ran. She was not injured.
The suspects are described as two dark-skinned males, approximately 5ft 7in, wearing dark clothing. The handbag contained personal items. Police are appealing for any witnesses to this incident or anyone with any information to contact the St. George?s Criminal Investigation Unit on 297-1122.
Cash taken from car outside home
A thief swiped $500 from a car parked outside a Riviera Road, Southampton home between 11.30 p.m. on Thursday and 11 a.m. on Friday.
Police appeal for witnesses
Police are continuing to appeal for witnesses to the disturbance at the Ozone nightclub around 2.15 a.m. on Saturday. A 20-year-old Devonshire man was stabbed during the disturbance, however he was treated and subsequently released from KEMH.
