condominiums being built at the Pink Beach Club have been sold.

The Tucker's Town cottage colony has sold six of the first 11 units, which are close to completion and cost $1.95 million to $2.3 million.

The first condominiums at the luxury development have four bedrooms and the use of a private beach and swimming pool.

A further eight three bedroom units are expected to be completed in October at the same waterfront site near John Smith's Bay.

Pink Beach managing director Michael Williams said he is delighted with the interest generated by the apartments, which he is convinced will have a spin-off effect on the rest of the cottage colony.

The condo development is part of the overall refurbishment of Pink Beach, which will see existing cottages upgraded, with some newly constructed.

Mr. Williams said: "It's been nothing but positive. The guests love the new rooms and the interest in the condos has also been very encouraging.

"In fact, a couple of the units sold have been to previous guests at Pink Beach.'' Condo purchasers are able to customise the units and can choose to have maid and food and beverage services provided by Pink Beach.

Owners can also rent their properties out to guests through Pink Beach, which will add more rooms to the property.

Pink Beach, which originally had 91 units, has demolished 34 cottages for refurbishment and to make way for the condos.

The property now has 76 units, which will rise to 86 in September when a further ten are completed. By next season, a further eight will be available, taking the total to 94.

"We are hoping some of the condo rooms will go back into the rental pool so that the development increases the inventory as well as increasing the quality of the whole site,'' said Mr. Williams.

"The spin-off business from people who have bought the condos will be beneficial.

"The owners will be bringing relatives and friends to Bermuda to spend time with them which will provide additional business from catering and maid services, which in turn provide employment for people.''
