A powerboat overturned in St. David's last night and had to be towed to shore.

The 18ft vessel overturned at 6.30 p.m. off Cove Valley Road.

A Bermuda Maritime Operations spokesman said: "There were four people on board. Two people were in the water and had to be picked up. The other two managed to scramble onto the shore."

He said a boat named Line One came to their assistance and towed the powerboat to the Blackhorse Tavern dock.

The incident was over by 7.30 p.m. There were no injuries reported.

Sunday bridge repair work

The western lane of Longbird Bailey Bridge will be closed for three hours Sunday morning for routine maintenance.

Between 6 a.m. and 9 a.m., traffic on the bridge to St. George's will be controlled with stop and go signs as Ministry of Works and Engineering staff tighten bolts on the deck panels.

Said a spokesperson: "The Ministry apologises for any inconvenience and requests that motorists cooperate with the traffic control devices in this area."
