The degree is in comparative biomedical sciences and his dissertation was entitled mechanisms of mucin stimulation in response to inflammatory mediators in human airway epithelial cells in vitro.

This research training adds to Dr. Norford's veterinary expertise. Dr. Norford also holds the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Tuskegee University and a license to practice Veterinary Medicine in the State of NC, USA.

A former student of Sandy's Secondary School, Dr. Norford serves as the university veterinarian at North Carolina Central University, Durham, NC.

Attending the graduation were several members of his family, including his wife and daughter, Carolyn and Andrea Norford, his mother, Mrs. Barbara Norford, aunt, Mrs. Gloria Burch, his brother, Mr. Donald Norford, and niece, Miss Donnae Norford from Bermuda.

Other attendees included Dr. Norford's sister, Mrs. Shirleta Lawrence and nephew Timmare Lawrence,. Also, family friends Pamela Cole, and children, Darrion and Samantha Cole, and Miss Emily Lowe of Atlanta, Georgia.
