Vicious fight breaks out at Cricket Club

Two people were hospitalised on Saturday night after a fight, which broke out at Bailey?s Bay Cricket Club, turned vicious.

A 25-year-old woman was knocked unconscious with a chair and a skirmish ensued with youths throwing chairs and breaking windows at the club.

The woman was hit across the head with the chair and had to be taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital where last night she was in satisfactory condition on a general ward.

According to a Police report, the fight then spilled over to the Crawl Hill Esso where six men jumped a 21-year-old man, breaking his nose and leaving him unconscious on the floor of the gas station before making their escape by taxi.

As of last night the man had been discharged from the hospital.

Police found the victim unconscious on the floor when they arrived at the gas station after being called to respond to an assault.

While the six assailants had fled the scene by taxi, the vehicle was intercepted by Police and the six men were arrested and taken to Hamilton Police Station.

Police are investigating the incident.
