face of the manager during a brawl was given a conditional discharge at Magistrates Court yesterday.

The Court heard that Karla Aitken, a labourer, threw beer over the face of a fellow worker in the Beach on Front Street, Hamilton, resulting in a fight at her table.

During the brawl on June 16, she threw glasses and an ash tray at customers, resulting in $50 worth of damage.

Prosecutor Graveney Bannister said Beach manager David Carruthers told Aitken to stop and leave the bar, but she turned on him, punching him on the face and kicking his shins.

She also swung a broken beer bottle in his face, which he managed to avoid, before he restrained her and took her to Hamilton Police Station.

At the station, Aitken, 39, of Hillsdale Avenue, Pembroke, said : "I punched him. I was going for his face.'' Aitken, who pleaded guilty to assault, told Magistrate Archibald Warner: "It started over a chair and guys were picking on me and punching me.

"We had already started fighting over a chair and I wasn't going to allow myself to be picked on, and he (Mr. Carruthers) approached me and punched me.'' Giving her a conditional discharge for 12 months, Mr. Warner said: "I don't want you going round getting drunk and breaking up places.'' MASKED GANG ATTACK MAN IN HIS HOME CRM Masked gang attack man in his home A 55-year-old Pembroke man reported that he was assaulted by three unknown males in his home.

He said that the masked culprits forced themselves inside shortly before 1.30 a.m. on Wednesday. The men allegedly began to throw sticks, bottles and stones at the complainant, cutting him over the right eye.

Nothing was stolen in the incident and Police are not sure if it was Halloween related or something more sinister.

CASH STOLEN FROM SCHOOL CRM Cash stolen from school A bag containing a significant amount of cash was reported stolen from the Berkeley Institute on Berkeley Road in Pembroke on Wednesday.

The complainant said that the cash was kept inside a clear plastic bag which was itself contained inside a grey handbag containing various other personal items.

She said that the handbag was left unattended for periods of time during the day on Wednesday, and that she noticed that the bag containing the money had been stolen at approximately 12.40 p.m. Inquiries are underway.
