Bermudians will soon be able to access the TV news anytime, all the time ? even weeks after it is broadcast ? for free.

Local businessman McCal Roberts plans to launch a website in the New Year which will allow users to log on and access the video content of Bermuda?s television stations.

?I?m bringing VSB, ZFB, and Fresh TV to the Internet,? he said.

?It will be all their programming.?

VSB currently has a video feed, he said, but only one broadcasting channel.

?We give the options.

?People can watch news, they can watch sports...

?They can watch what they want at any given time.

?It?s like the archives of the news.

?They can watch last week?s news if they want, last year?s.?

Mr. Roberts already runs the Mac10 entertainment video website (www.mac10entvideo.com), which shows video content of both local and international entertainment stars.

The funding for the new website, which will be at www.bermudalive.com in the New Year, will come from a group of investors who have options to air either their logos or commercials in a certain time slot on the website, or have links on the website to their own advertising.

?We give them the spot, they buy it with no other commercials affiliated with that time slot,? he said.

?We do it on a monthly basis.?

Mr. Roberts also works filming events such as plays and other performances, and putting them on DVDs for sale.

If a job is too big for him and his assistant Raphael Trott, he said he brings in other videographers and photographers for the work.

He also has a contract with Government to film events in the public schools and put them on DVDs for sale to parents.

Some of that revenue also goes towards the websites, he said.

?The more DVDs sold, the better it is for the websites,? Mr. Roberts said.

?We?re not a business yet, we?re doing a survey trying to feel out the market to see if it?s worthwhile investing,? he said. ?I?ll give it a year to see how it goes.?
