A businessman has had his hair cut for the first time in six years to raise money for a good cause.

McCal Roberts, a former Canadian Hotel resident now living at Bailey?s Bay, said he ?cried like a baby? when Llewellyn Nisbett chopped off his locks at Ricky?s Barber Shop in Devonshire.

The 35-year-old, who runs his own video production company, raised $2,000 in sponsorship for Hope Homes with the stunt. The cash-strapped organisation, which allows the mentally challenged to live apart from their families, had its Government funding stopped in 2004.

Mr. Roberts said: ?I found out that nobody was supporting this foundation and I took it upon myself to donate my time and my hair.?

He added that his hair was about 12 inches long when finally cut. ?I look like a youngster again. I feel like I?m reliving my youth but I?m getting used to it.?
