Procedures and guidelines for Applying for a British Citizen Passport.
1. Applicants born in Bermuda before 1983 require:
(a) a completed application form
(b) the fee
(c) birth certificate
(d) photographs.
2. Applicants who were born in Bermuda or abroad after 1982, and whose mother is (was) a British Overseas Territories Citizen require:
(a) a complete application form
(b) the fee
(c) birth certificate
(d) photographs
(e) birth certificate of the applicant's mother to prove that she is (was) a British Overseas Territories Citizen.
3. Applicants who themselves and their mothers were both born after 1982, and whose maternal grandmother is (was) a British Overseas Territories Citizens require:
(a) a completed application form
(b) the fee
(c) birth certificate
(d) photographs
(e) birth certificate of the applicant's mother
(f) birth certificate of the applicant's maternal grandmother to prove that she is (was) a British Overseas Territories Citizens.
4. Applicants who were born in Bermuda after 1982 and whose father is (was) a British Overseas Territories Citizen require:
(a) a completed application form
(b) the fee
(c) birth certificate
(d) photographs
(e) birth certificate of the applicant's father to prove that he is a British Overseas Territories citizen
(f) marriage certificate of the applicant's father and mother
(g) where applicable, divorce decrees absolute with respect to any previous marriages of the applicant's parents.
5. Applicants who themselves and their father were both born in Bermuda after 1982 and the paternal grandfather is (was) a British Overseas Territories citizen require:
(a) a completed application form
(b) the fee
(c) birth certificate
(d) photographs
(e) birth certificate of the applicant's father
(f) marriage certificate of the applicant's father and mother
(g) where applicable, divorce decrees absolute with respect to any previous marriages of the applicant's parents
(h) birth certificate of the applicant's paternal grandfather to prove he is a British Overseas Territories Citizen
(i) marriage certificate of the applicant's paternal grandparents
(j) where applicable, divorce decrees absolute with respect to any previous marriages of the applicant's paternal grandparents.
6. Applicants who were born outside Bermuda before 1983 require
(a) a completed application form
(b) the fee
(c) the applicant's overseas birth certificate
(d) photographs
(e) the father birth certificate to show that he is a British Overseas Territories Citizen
(f) the applicant's parent's marriage certificate
(g) where applicable, divorce decrees absolute with respect to any previous marriages of the applicant's parents.
7. Applicants who were naturalised in Bermuda require:
(a) a completed application form
(b) the fee
(c) the original naturalisation certificate
8. Applicants registered as a BDTC/BOTC in Bermuda require:
(a) a completed application form
(b) the fee
(c) the original registration certificate.
Applications will be bundled together in groups and sent by courier to Washington with the return by courier prepaid in Bermuda

Courier to Washington and return BD$10.00
Washington's issuance fee (currently) BD$75.95

For a child's passport
Department of Immigration's processing fee BD$70.00
Courier to Washington and return BD$10.00
Washington's issuance fee (currently) US$44.95
Total $124.95
The Bermuda dollar charges can be in the form of a cheque or cash. The Washington fee must be in the form of a US Dollar bank draft. Washington's fee can change with the US$/GB-Pound exchange rate. Applicants should confirm the Washington fee rate, with the Passports section of the Department of Immigration (telephone 295-5151 extension 1455) before obtaining a bank draft.
Washington will not accept applications that are sent to them directly by the applicants. All BC passport applications must be sent through the Department of Immigration.
