Two teens hospitalised following cycle crash

A 14-year-old girl was in the Intensive Care Unit with stomach injuries after the bike she was on crashed into the back of a car on South Shore Road in Devonshire, Saturday morning.

The pillion passenger, a 14-year-old Paget girl, was in the Intensive Care Unit of King Edward VII Memorial Hospital last night according to KEMH?s nursing supervisor.

However, the driver, a 16-year old Southampton girl, was in stable condition in the Gosling?s ? Children?s ? Ward of KEMH, they said.

Police said the collision took place on South Shore Road in Devonshire, between a car and a bike at around 11.20 a.m. on Saturday.

?It appears that both vehicles were travelling east on South Road when the driver of the car indicated to turn into Medeiros Lane.

?The cycle travelling behind could not stop in time, and collided with the rear of the vehicle. The car was not damaged in the collision and the cycle received minor damage to its front fender.

?Inquiries into this incident are underway,? Police said.
