Nova to perform at 'Picnic in the Park' event on Saturday
Bermuda's international singing star Heather Nova has been added to the list of performers lined up for a 'Picnic in the Park' event to be held this coming Saturday at Astwood Park on the South Shore.
Ms Nova's most recent Bermuda concert appearance was at a free event at the Arboretum earlier in the summer to promote environmentally-friendly issues.
She has been confirmed as the special guest to join a roster of local artists lined up for the event at Astwood Park, which is being organised by the Bermuda Environmental and Sustainability Taskforce (BEST).
Described as a free family event, it is being held "in support of Sustainable Development" and takes place between 3 p.m. and 9 p.m. on august 25. Other acts lined up to perform include Jahstice, Flookie, Olybhossh, Joy Barnum, 1Undread, Ras Georgis and Jackie Ayres.
Stuart Hayward, of BEST, confirmed the inclusion of Ms Nova on stage at the Bermuda Folk Club's monthly event at the Spanish Point Boat Club on Saturday evening.
Those going along to the event are encouraged to bring a picnic and blanket to sit on the grass and enjoy the tunes, ranging from reggae to popular music.
BEST and other organisations will provide information at the fundraiser about the Island and preservation of open spaces.
T-shirts and bags will also be on sale, as well as refreshments such as hot dogs, beverages and ice cream. The event, which is due to go ahead "rain or shine" is being sponsored by Bang Bang Hair, Goslings Limited, John Barritt & Son, and Mr. and Mrs. Michael Richold.
