Impaired motorcyclist tells Police: ‘I work at Goslings’

A St George’s man stopped while driving the wrong way on a one-way road yesterday admitted drinking and driving.Magistrates’ Court heard that at around 1.05am on Sunday officers were travelling east along Wellington Slip Road when they noticed 39-year-old Albert Minors riding a motorcycle in the opposite direction.Once stopped, the officers noticed that Minors appeared to have difficulty keeping his vehicle upright and smelled strongly of alcohol.Asked if he had been drinking, Minors said: “No. I work at Goslings.”The officers remained unconvinced, and arrested him on suspicion of driving while impaired. Appearing in Magistrates’ Court, Minors pleaded guilty to that offence.Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner dined Minors $800, banning him from driving all vehicles for a period of one year.
