The US chain, which owns the Hamilton and Southampton Princess hotels, has bought the 51 percent share of the Fairmont Royal Pavilion and the Fairmont Glitter Bay from Pemberton Princess Hotels Ltd..

Fairmont announced the buy-out in a written statement issued on Friday but the price was not disclosed.

Fairmont operates 36 hotels in the United States, Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean as well as in Bermuda.

The 75-room Royal Pavilion and 67-room Glitter Bay are on the west coast of Barbados.

CYCLISTS HURT IN SEPARATE CRASHES AC Cyclists hurt in separate crashes A 56-year-old woman cyclist needed hospital treatment after a two-vehicle road accident on Sunday evening.

The Paget woman was riding an auxiliary cycle east on Crow Lane in Pembroke near Spurling's Hill around 6 p.m. when she was in a collision with a car driven by a 77-year-old Devonshire man, travelling in the opposite direction and turning up Spurling's Hill.

The car was slightly damaged, but the cyclist suffered a broken right leg. Her bike was extensively damaged.

Also on Sunday, a Southampton cyclist and his female passenger were also hurt in a collision with a car. The rider, 22, suffered a broken hip and right leg, as well as head injuries. His 18-year-old passenger hurt her head and knee.

The accident occurred at around 3.30 p.m. on Middle Road, Paget, near the junction with Manse Road.

The car was driven by a 19-year-old Warwick man, who was travelling in the opposite direction. He was unhurt.

BEDDING ITEMS STOLEN FROM BASEMENT CRM Bedding items stolen from basement Bedding items were stolen from the basement of a home on Glebe Road, Pembroke, sometime between last Thursday afternoon and Friday morning. The victim discovered the break-in just before 11 a.m. Friday and told Police a large number of blankets, comforters and bedspreads had been stolen.

Cash was stolen following a break-in at an Ocean Sands Road, Warwick property sometime on Friday. The occupants discovered the break-in and theft at about 2.30 p.m. US cash was stolen from a Cross Bay Road, Southampton home between 8 a.m. and 9 p.m. on Friday. Telford Electric also fell victim to theft on Friday night when thieves broke into the company's Wellbottom, Southampton building.

Residents of Cameron Close, Smith's fell victim to thieves while at church on Saturday afternoon. The culprits searched the bedrooms and stole a man's wrist chain, three men's watches, two men's gold rings and a pair of diamond stud earrings in addition to a small amount of cash. The theft was reported at about 2.30 p.m.

COUNTERFEIT BILL USED TO BUY PLANE TICKET CRM Counterfeit bill used to buy plane ticket A counterfeit $50 Bermuda bill was used to buy an airline ticket on Thursday morning at the US Airways desk at the Bermuda International Airport, Police reported. Airline employees did not realise the note was fake until Friday morning.

Cash was stolen from a drawer in a house at 1 Tribe Road in Warwick. The thief entered the property on Sunday through an unlocked door.

Meanwhile, missing teen Patricia Arthur was collected safely and unharmed at 5.45 p.m. on Friday.
