A private island, even if it's no more than a spit of land with a shack on it, appeals to the megalomaniac in all of us.

And according to Forbes' list of the world's most expensive private islands on the market, Bermuda's Perot's Island ranks number nine.

At a mere $17.5 million you can own this eight-acre island in Riddell's Bay with its 360 degree water views.

Perot's Island, which has been up for sale since 2002, comes with a 17,000 square foot main residence complete with seven bedrooms, mahogany floors, a library panelled in Bermuda cedar, a pool, cabana, paddle-tennis court and a boat house. To top it all off the island even has its own chapel.

It is listed with Vladi Private Islands.

The most expensive private island on the market is James Island in British Columbia, Canada, at a whopping $49.9 million.
