Lindo's DVD raises $8,620

Lindo's Group IT manager Zach Moniz hands over a cheque for $8,620 to Jane Birmingham and Gertie Barker of the Friends of Hospice charity, which runs the Agape House for terminally ill patients. The proceeds came from the sale of more than 1,000 DVDs of a collection of the compan's commercials.

Lindo's Group of Companies has donated $8,620 to charity, in memory of their IT Manager's grandmother.

The company raised fund by selling a DVD, "Adverts and the Untold Stories", about the stories behind their trademark commercials. The funds were raised for the Agape House in memory of Marion Lindo, Zach Moniz's grandmother.

Mr. Moniz said: "We wanted to honour the memory of my grandmother by giving back to the community.

"Since everyone loves the locally-produced Lindo's television adverts, creating a DVD of all the untold stories that went along with the making of these commercials seemed like a wonderful way to raise funds for Agape House, which provided such support to my grandmother in her time of need.

"We have been amazed by the public response to the sale of these DVDs."

More than 1,000 DVDs have been sold at $10 a piece. The commercials and the DVD were produced by Charles Reily of Lime Productions.

He explained the inspiration for the commercials came from Leon's Furniture commercials in Canada which were very memorable. "With the support of Zach, and a very willing Dai James to act in the ads, we knew we could achieve the same thing here in Bermuda.

"It's a local success story, one that we are pleased to share with Lindo's and the wider community. The fact that Lindo's has been able to generate funds for Friends of Hospice and Agape House through the sale of the DVD has been a wonderful boon to that story", Mr. Reily said.

The Agape House was established in 1990 and provides care for terminally ill patients. Friends of Hospice is a registered charity that raises funds for the Agape House.
